Arsenal Youngster Aaron Ramsey Confident Ahead Of Wales Test Against Germany
He may be only 18, but the 'Land of his Fathers' is placing the burden of high expectations on one young Gunner...
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, yet to start a Premier League game for his club, could be handed a crucial role by his national team coach John Toshack when Wales welcome Germany to the Millennium Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The Welsh produced an insipid display in 2-0 losing at home to Finland on Saturday, with the progress made in recent years seeming to lurch to a grinding halt, but Ramsey might well be part of a brighter future for the men in red, as he continues his development at Arsenal.
He is trying not to let the burden of natioal expectations weigh him down though, as he prepares for the visit of the Germans.
"It does not concern me what is written and said about me, or anything like that. All I can do is the best I can when I do get selected," he told The Daily Telegraph.
"I am aware of what the Wales fans want from me, but I do not think or worry about that. I'm only interested in working hard to improve my game. But you have to take the opportunities when you are given them.
"We have to put behind us everything that happened on Saturday against Finland and concentrate on getting it right from now on, starting against Germany."
And Ramsey felt that he was definitiely a better player for having moved to the Emirates last summer from Cardiff City, concluding, "I am confident. Working with world-class players every day at Arsenal is certainly preparing me for this next step up."
