UEFA Cup hopefuls Ajax have received some good news from the treatment table in the buildup towards the important match against Olympique de Marseille.
Highly rated youngster Siem de Jong has returned to match action after a six-week spell on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury. The 20-year-old participated one hour in Jong Ajax's 3-2 loss against Jong Heerenveen on Monday evening.
Nevertheless, it's not yet known whether head coach Marco van Basten will select De Jong for the UEFA Cup clash against Marseille. The Amsterdam side lost the away match 2-1 and desperately need a victory.
Meanwhile, Rasmus Lindgren, Jan Vertonghen and Gabri have all been ruled out off the match due to injury. Defensive duo Gregory van der Wiel and Thomas Vermaelen are unavailable due to suspension.
