Amid complaints that he hasn’t been offered a new deal at the Dutch club, Brazilian forward Leonardo appears poised to join Panathinaikos...According to Voetbal International, tricky winger Leonardo is on his way out of the Amsterdam ArenA and on his way to Greek giants Panathinaikos.
Pana manager Henk ten Cate has expressed his desire to add the Brazilian attacker to his squad on several occasions. The Greek outfit even reportedly made an offer for Leonardo but Ajax didn't reply to the bid.
"Leonardo's current situation is quite bizarre,” said his agent Hans Coret. “He's very happy at Ajax and really wants to stay in Amsterdam. However, he has an expiring contract and Ajax haven't offered him a new deal yet.
"Ajax are happy with Leonardo's performances but manager Marco van Basten hasn't made up his mind yet and he's the one calling the shots. Therefore, Leonardo appears to be on his way to Panathinaikos.
"We haven't reached an agreement yet with the Greek side. We still have to discuss some minor details but they've made a good offer and I expect us to wrap up the deal in the near future."
