PSV 2-3 Heerenveen

The guests started the match the better side of the two and grabbed a deserved lead after only fifteen minutes. Paulo Henrique found the net from close range after a quick combination with midfielder Viktor Elm. The hosts weren’t too impressed though and immediately took over the initiative. Balasz Dzsudzsak leveled both side after a perfect cross from right winger Nordin Amrabat and skipper Timmy Simons handed the Eindhoven side the lead after a howler from Heerenveen goalie Brian Vandenbussche. Sloppy defending from Simons helped Heerenveen back in the match and Henrique doubled his tally five minutes after the break. Things got even worse for the reigning title holders in the dying seconds of the match. Jason Culina fouled his opponent inside the area and received his marching orders. The Australian international had hardly left the field when Danijel Pranjic converted the awarded spot kick to help Heerenveen to the victory.

Willem II 0-3 Heracles

The Almelo side dominated the match from the beginning, but failed to find the net before the break. Brazilian hit man Everton scored a brace within ten minutes after the break though to make Heracles feel comfortable. Willem II were too weak to cause Heracles any trouble and the guests decided the match via Ricky van den Bergh, who converted a penalty.

NAC 3-1 Sparta

Former Sparta star Nourdin Boukhari didn’t really celebrate his opening goal after fifteen minutes, but he certainly had every reason to do so. Sparta goalie Cassio Ramos never stood a chance against his magnificent back-heeled shot. Strong defender Ruud Knol quickly leveled the score with a powerful header only minutes later. However, goals from Rob Penders (76th min.) and Csaba Feher (90th) eventually helped NAC to the full three points.

Roda 3-1 De Graafschap

Belgian defender Kris de Wree gifted the home side the lead after only seven minutes when he tapped in a corner kick from inside the area. The Superboeren didn’t give up and Israeli wunderkind Ben Sahar scored the 1-1 minutes after the break. Experienced forward Anders Oper proved his worth for Roda in the 54th minute. He restored his side’s lead with a subtle chipped effort after a long solo effort. Left back Marcel de Jong gave the home crowd every reason to go wild when he fired home a free kick in the dying minutes of the match to secure Roda’s victory.

AZ 3-0 Groningen

Table toppers AZ were never really tested by Groningen and needed only three minutes to open the score. Italian youngster Graziano Pelle beat his marker to the ball and headed the ball past Groningen goalie Luciano. Pelle repeated his little trick around the hour mark to double his tally. However, the best goal of the evening was scored by Moussa Dembele. The former Willem II star unleashed a ferocious drive from about 25 yards and left Luciano no chance.

Utrecht 0-2 Ajax

The Amsterdam outfit started the match brilliantly and grabbed the lead in the tenth minute. Miralem Sulejmani set up defender Gregory van der Wiel and the Holland international happily converted the chance from close range. The home side did their utmost to fight back, but once again Sulejmani flew in a perfect cross for Jan Vertonghen around the hour mark and the defender headed home to double Ajax’s lead.

Feyenoord 2-2 Vitesse

Both sides started the match with attacking intentions and the guests were the first to be rewarded. Pint sized playmaker Nicky Hofs, who’s on loan at Vitesse from Feyenoord, curled a free kick in the top corner after eighteen minutes. Hot prospect Georginio Wijnaldum helped Feyenoord back in the match with his goal minutes before the interval. Nevertheless, the home side fell behind again around the hour mark. A powerful shot from Dalibor Stevanovic proved to be too much for the Feyenoord goalie. Prolific hit man Roy Makaay finished a quickly taken free kick to help his side to a deserved point though.

Twente 1-0 ADO Den Haag

The Enschede side created plenty of chances to record an easy victory. However, ADO goalie Robert Zwinkels conceded only once after 24 minutes. Top scorer Blaise N’Kufo headed home a perfect cross from Ronnie Stam. Youngster Marko Arnautovic came close to doubling Twente’s lead, but his goal was disallowed for offside.

Volendam 1-1 NEC

The home side were the better side in a disappointing match and deservedly grabbed the lead after 53 minutes. Melvin Platje found the net from inside the area after initially being denied by NEC shot stopper Gabor Babos. NEC everything but impressed after their UEFA Cup elimination, but still managed to equalize in the dying seconds of the match. Defender Milano Koenders tapped in a loose ball from close range to help his side to a draw.
