Heerenveen 2-0 Roda

Heerenveen started the match the better side of the two and opened the score after 40 minutes. Ghanaian defender Eric Addo lost possession and young winger Roy Beerens had no trouble finding the net from close range. The former PSV youngster earned a spot kick ten minutes after the break and Croatian midfielder Danijel Pranjic easily converted the chance.

PSV 2-2 NAC

Mexican defender Carlos Salcido gifted the hosts the lead within fifteen minutes. Balasz Dszudszak swung in the cross and Salcido headed home from five yards. Nevertheless, substitute Tyrone Loran levelled both sides in the dying minutes of the first half after sloppy goalkeeping from Andreas Isaksson. Finnish winger Joonas Kolkka made things even worse for PSV with his left footed shot in the 74th minute. PSV star Ibrahim Afellay responded quickly though. The playmaker went by two opponents before firing in a low shot that left NAC goalie Jelle Ten Rouwelaar no chance.

AZ 2-0 De Graafschap

The Alkmaar side opened the score after only ten minutes via Brazilian hit man Ari, who headed home Mounir el Hamdaoui’s perfect cross. De Graafschap came close to levelling both sides, but the referee opted to disallow his goal for offside. Left back Sebastien Pocognoli doubled the lead for the hosts in the 45th minute after a beautiful one-two with Ari.

Feyenoord 1-1 Willem II

The Rotterdam side started the match the better side of the two, but the guests grabbed the lead. Right back Jens Janse fired in a powerful header to open the score from Said Boutahar’s corner kick. Feyenoord kept on fighting though and they scored the deserved equalizer in injury time. Diego Biseswar sent in the cross from the left wing and quick winger Andwele Slory fired home from inside the area.

Vitesse 0-0 NEC

Not too much to report about from Arnhem. The hosts got the better chances, but the Nijmegen side almost stole the victory. However, Patrick Pothuizen’s goal was disallowed and both teams shared the spoils.

Groningen 1-0 Ajax

The Amsterdam outfit got a huge chance to open the score via former Groningen star Luis Suarez. However, the Uruguayan forward failed to add his name to the score sheet, unlike Groningen’s Danny Holla in the 40th minute. The holding midfielder gifted his side the lead with a powerful low shot. Once again Suarez should have levelled the score, but Groningen goalie Luciano was determined to keep a clean sheet. Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen received his marching orders in the 86th minute after his second booking.

Utrecht 3–3 Sparta

The guests started the match brilliantly and highly rated youngster Kevin Strootman gifted his side the lead after only six minutes. However, Utrecht fought back and Michael Silberbauer and Cedric van der Gun made the score 2-1 within 20 minutes. Sparta kept on attacking and young attacker Joey Godee levelled both sides before the break. A howler from Sparta goalie Cor Varkevisser resulted in the 3-2 from tricky winger Loic Loval. The Rotterdam side never looked like losing and prolific striker Rydell Poepon helped his side to a draw with his goal in the 68th minute.

Volendam 0–1 ADO Den Haag

Volendam lost the important match against ADO Den Haag 1-0. New signing Danny Buijs scored the only goal of the match with fifteen more minutes to go. Volendam goalie Jeroen Verhoeven never stood a chance against his calmly placed shot. The hosts weren’t too happy, since Buijs should have been sent off only minutes before his goal.

Heracles 1–2 Twente

Steve McClaren’s side dominated the match from the beginning and experienced playmaker Kenneth Perez opened the score in the dying minutes of the first half after a nice solo effort. Austrian youngster Marko Arnautovic, who’s being linked with a move to German side Schalke’04, doubled the lead for the Enschede side in the 75th after being set up by holding midfielder Wout Brama. Heracles star Ricky van den Bergh pegged one back in the 83rd minute, but his goal came too late to help his side to a point.
