Goal.com Poll Results: Spain Hot Favourites To Take Euro 2012 Title
Goal.com asked for your opinion...
By Stephen Crawford
On Friday, Goal.com International asked YOU for your tips on who will be the eventual winners of the European Championships in 2012. With an entire weekend and a full set of qualifying games as a taster, the results have been counted and can now be revealed...
Number one wasn't a huge shock as reigning world and European champions Spain are the fan favourites for the competition by a landslide, clocking up 2800 votes on the button. For a team so brimming with talent, coupled with confidence to go along with it, La Furia Roja taking the top spot is a no-brainer.

In at number two is a side that many thought would be ultimate winners of the 2010: Germany. Raking in 1842 votes in total, the young, still improving side were a good bit behind the readers' favourite, but miles ahead of the rest with their second place spot.

A bit of a surprise now as, despite a terrible World Cup showing and consistent bad press about the state of the national camp, England placed ahead of the WC runners-up the Netherlands. The Three Lions just nipped third place with 873 votes, while the Oranje picked up 821.
The Italians managed a respectable 797 points in the wake of a new national coach and a good bit of reshuffling amongst the Azzuri ranks, while a Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal side only picked up 223 votes. And trailing behind the rest of the big guns is Laurent Blanc's new-look France side, who only managed a grand total of 177.
With only seven nations out of a possible fifty one being represented in our poll, readers were given the option of 'other', just incase. However, this choice only took in 374 votes, meaning Goal.com fans are not expecting an upset in 2012, and fully expect Spain to run away with their second consecutive European title in four years.
