Goal.com Poll Results: Xavi Deserved Second Place In Ballon d'Or Race

In the wake of Lionel Messi's Ballon d'Or win, much was made of the gap between the Argentinian and the second-placed candidate, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Furthermore, following a modest 12 months by his standards, the placing of 'CR9' as Messi's runner-up was also seen as suspect in some quarters.

Voices called for Xavi and Andres Iniesta to be further up the list and closer to their club colleague, potentially earning Barcelona a clean sweep of the top placings.

Accordingly the Goal.com readership is in agreement; the majority of fans believe that Xavi was a more deserving recipient of the runner-up spot that the Portugal captain.
