Poll Results: Derby Predictions Come True
The Goal.com readers have spoken, and the small majority that tipped Roma to win the Rome Derby have been proven correct...
On Friday we asked who would win the Rome derby on Sunday evening between AS Roma and SS Lazio.
In the end Roma prevailed thanks to a Julio Baptista goal - and more Goal.com readers saw this coming than any other outcome.
48% said that the Giallorossi would prove victorious, while 43% said that on-form Lazio would be the ones to win. Just 9% went for the draw.
As an anonymous poster put it:
"Roma will win because they are simply better. Lazio will probably be overconfident and believe that it will be an easy game. (They are not used to being on the high part of the table so they are inexperienced and won't remain humble.) Roma are not in crisis because if only Cicinho hadn't scored the own goal, today everybody would be talking of a new Roma. Instead they talk of a crisis. A crisis isn't affected by an own goal. As you can see Roma have resumed playing good football as shown with Chelsea and Bologna."
