Yesterday we looked back on Barcelona's amazing run of form and asked whether or not this signalled a return to the glory days of the double.
After all, the last time the blaugrana went on a winning run like their present one was in 2005, during which time they were en route to winning both the Primera División and the Champions League.
It seems that most of you think that lightning will strike twice: 55% tipped the blaugrana for the double. As barca4life from Spain said:
"Barcelona will win both La Liga and the Champions League. The reason is because there's one man at Barcelona who wants the CL more than anyone else. That is Henry, and I think he will help this team achieve that with his experience. It would be good for him to get his 1st Champions League medal since he lost that chance against barcelona in the 2006 final."
The next most popular option - the Liga alone - attracted 25% of voters, including Will from New York, New York:
"I think Barca's best chance for silverware is to go after La Liga first. The Champions League , even though I like their chances, is to competitive to ever predict. The Copa del Rey should be less of a priority considering the draw ( if they beat Benidorm ) has them playing Atletico Madrid and then the winner of Real Madrid - Villareal just toreach the semifinals. If they stay healthy and continue to play at this level I think La Liga and another trophy are high possibilities but a treble is asking a little too much. Forza Barça!"
11% said that the blaugrana would make it a third barren season in a row. Samuel from Amsterdam eloquently put it:
"Outplaying Barcelona is a difficult job. They are a side with a lot of football in them and several players are finding their best form. However, I am not convinced Barcelona are able to withstand conservative defensive tactics and continue to be solid at the back when the goals aren't coming. They were completely outmanoeuvred and outplayed by Liverpool in the CL last year. I have no reason to believe they now have the tactical versatility to prevent that from happening again. In La Liga they also might suffer loss of points when other teams try to 'pull a Numancia' and beat them with a counter-attacking strategy. So basically I think they have enough quality in their team to beat any other team, but they are lacking tactically and will not win any silverware because of it."
That leaves 5% who thought that a minor trophy like the Copa del Rey would be winging its way to Camp Nou, and 4% who argued that the blaugrana would win the Champions League but not the Liga.
