An eyewitness has emerged in the case involving the shooting of Paraguay international Salvador Cabanas.

According to reports in Mexican daily Reforma, Bar-Bar employee Javier Ibarra was in the bathroom at the time of the shooting and admitted that had heard the conversation between Cabanas and his attacker.

It is alleged that that the gunman asked Cabanas “where are the goals?” as the Club America forward entered the bathroom before demanding to know “where are the goals that will make America champions?”

Ibarra claims that Cabanas then responded by asking his attacker “who are you?” The assailant was apparently enraged at the question and responded with some choice expletives.

The man then, reportedly, pulled a gun on Cabanas who responded by challenging his attacker's manhood before the shot was fired.

Cabanas remains in hospital this evening as doctors continue to closely monitor his health.
