Sollied: Heerenveen Not Good Enough For Europe
Heerenveen manager Trond Sollied reflects on his side's 2-1 home loss against Sporting Braga...
Eredivisie outfit Heerenveen were beaten 2-1 by Sporting Braga on
Thursday evening. The loss was their third consecutive one in the UEFA
Cup and the Dutch side are no longer in the race for qualification for
the next round. Beleaguered manager Trond Sollied and defender Michel
Breuer look back on the match.
"We didn't even make it to the group phase last year, so we did improve a bit. We're better than last year, but we're still not good enough on the important moments," said Sollied after the match.
"This is a huge disappointment for us. We're eliminated without even grabbing one point. We were unable to break down their defensive wall after the 2-1. The final match against Portsmouth is nothing more than a match for the statistics," said Breuer.
The 2-1 loss wasn't the only bad news for the Friezen. Danijel Pranjic, Mika Vayrynen and Gerald Sibon all left the pitch with injuries and are doubtful for Heerenveen's upcoming Eredivisie match against Willem II.
