thumbnail Hello,

The Argentine played down the significance of his first strike in continental competition since 2009, saying he is only interested in helping the Bianconeri get through

Carlos Tavez insists that Juventus can still progress to the final of the Europa League - despite losing 2-1 at Benfica on Thursday night.

The Bianconeri looked set to earn a fine score draw in Lisbon after the Argentine cancelled Ezequiel Garay's opener with just 17 minutes remaining, but Lima netted a spectacular late winner to give the Eagles a lead to protect in next week's second leg in Turin.

Consequently, despite the fact that he finally managed to net in European competition, Tevez says that his sole concern is on helping Juve overcome their one-goal deficit - something he feels Antonio Conte's men are more than capable of doing on home soil.

"My goal was not important; that we're on course to qualify is," the striker told reporters after the match.

"We have a big chance of going through; qualification is open in the second leg."

Midfielder Paul Pogba, meanwhile, has urged his side to defend better next week, arguing that both of the goals they conceded in Portugal were avoidable.

"We need to play in the same was we did in the second half but with more concentration," the France international reasoned. "We concded two goals due to errors but we played well overall.

"However, Benfica are very quick and dangerous on the counterattack. They get into the box quickly."
