Cesare Prandelli believes that everyone in Italy should support Juventus for the course of their Europa League run.
The Bianconeri stand on the brink of the semi-finals of the competition after winning the first-leg of their last-eight tie against Olympique Lyonnais 1-0 last week.
Giorgio Chiellini claimed that the whole country wants to see his side fail, but the Azzurri coach believes supporting Antonio Conte's men will help the fortunes of the national team.
"When it comes to understanding fans, we need to improve and we all have to grow," he told Tuttosport.
"I would like all Italians to be closer to the national team and not just for a brief period during the World Cup or the European Championship.
"As a country, we need to move on from the point of view of cheering on individual clubs. As Italians, we should be always be on the side of any team involved in Europe.
"We are compatriots and are challenging foreign teams. This should come before any parochialism.
"It would be nice if all Italians cheer on Juve against Lyon with the hope that Juve win the Europa League.
"We must be the biggest fans of our teams when they are abroad."
