thumbnail Hello,

Basel provided the entertainment in the opening round of Europa League quarter-finals with three goals against Valencia while elsewhere saw some edgy one-goal victories.

Juventus, Benfica and FC Porto earned a narrow lead from their quarter-final first legs. A late goal from Leonardo Bonucci for Juventus was enough to see off Lyon, a sweet strike from Salvio allowed Benfica to take an away goal from AZ and a bullet header from Mangala put FC Porto in the driving seat against Sevilla. But the shock of the round came from Switzerland where Basel trounced Valencia by three goals with no reply.
