Chelsea full of confidence for Rubin Kazan clash, says Luiz

The 25-year-old believes that, while their Russian opponents shouldn't be taken lightly when they visit Stamford Bridge, the Blues' decent form stands them in good stead
Chelsea defender David Luiz has stated his side are full of confidence after beating Manchester United in the FA Cup on Monday ahead of hosting Rubin Kazan in their Europa League quarter-final first-leg clash.

Despite the club falling 22 points behind league leaders United in the top flight, they managed to book their semi-final place at Wembley with a narrow 1-0 win over them at Stamford Bridge courtesy of a wonderfully-crafted Demba Ba goal in the second half.

2/1 The Blues are 2/1 with William Hill to win the Europa League this season
Now turning their attentions to their remaining silverware hopes, Luiz believes that their Russian opponents shouldn't be underestimated after they eliminated holders Atletico Madrid, but feels as long as the side adjust their style, they have more than enough quality to rise to the challenge.

"It's very important to play European football because you are playing against some of the best players in the world and teams from different countries," Luiz told the club's official website.

"There is a bit of a difference in terms of style and culture. In Europe, each team is different.

"You can play against a Spanish side, or a Russian side, like we will tonight, and the way they play football can change.

"They've already beaten two good Spanish sides [Atletico madrid and Levante]. To arrive at this stage of the tournament they are obviously a very good team.

"We need to be careful, play an intelligent game and not concede any goals, because that's very important when you play the first leg at home.

"Everybody's confident, when you beat a big team like Manchester United it's good for you mentally,' he explains.

"This competition is important for the club, the players and the fans, but it will be a difficult game against a team at a high level."
