Yanga-Mbiwa confident Newcastle can overcome Metalist Kharkiv
The France international believes his new side have enough firepower in their squad to overcome the Ukrainian side in their second-leg clash, despite a goalless first tie
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is confident that Newcastle can progress to the next round of the Europa League with victory over Metalist Kharkiv. The Magpies need to win away in Ukraine on February 21 after a goalless first leg at St. James' Park, but the former Montpellier man believes that they can score in the Metalist Stadium despite failing to find the net at home.
"It's fair to say we did have our chances to come away with victory but unfortunately we couldn't," Yanga-Mbiwa told the club's official website.
"However there were a lot of positives to take out of the match and we'll go away in the second leg, try and get one or two goals and come away with a victory."
The France international only made his full debut in the first leg on February 14, but was delighted to have a chance to show the Magpies' fans what he can do.
"I was very excited to get going in the Newcastle shirt, especially at St. James' Park," he continued, "It was good to get my foot in the door and show the team that I can work well with the squad."
Newcastle are one of four English clubs still in the Europa League, with Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham also in action next week.
