Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has dropped Jermain Defoe to the bench for the Europa League encounter in Rome, with Adebayor preferred to lead the line in a lone striker role
Andre Villas-Boas has chosen Emmanuel Adebayor to lead the line for this evening's Europa League game against Lazio in Rome, with Jermain Defoe dropping to the bench after Saturday's 5-2 defeat in the North London derby.20-year-old Tom Carroll partners Sandro in the centre of midfield, with Tom Huddlestone missing out.
Aaron Lennon must also make do with a place on the bench, with Gylfi Sigurdsson replacing him.
Steven Caulker has shaken off the knee injury that kept him out of the game at the Emirates to partner Jan Vertonghen in central defence, while Moussa Dembele is fit enough for a place on the substitutes' bench following his hip injury.
Lazio make five changes from the side that secured a 0-0 away draw with Juventus on Saturday, with Miroslav Klose among the players dropping out.
