TEAM NEWS: Sahin starts for Liverpool's Europa League clash against Young Boys
Sep 20, 2012 4:48:00 PM
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers makes 11 changes to the team which played against Sunderland as he looks ahead to Sunday's Premier League clash with Manchester United
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has made 11 changes to his team which played against Sunderland for their Europa League clash with Young Boys.Loan signing Nuri Sahin is set to feature for just the second time for the Reds since arriving from Real Madrid after making his debut in the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal.
Meanwhile, fellow new-boy Oussama Assaidi makes his first start since his transfer from Heerenveen.
With Manchester United visiting Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday it appears Rodgers has taken the opportunity to rest his first-team players.
The only players to feature at all in the squad from their draw at the Stadium of Light are Raheem Sterling, Jonjo Shelvey, Fabio Borini and Stewart Downing, who was a subsitute last weekend.
There are no places, however, for skipper Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Pepe Reina, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger or Glen Johnson.
Jose Enrique is recalled to the team after recovering from an injury that saw him dropped to the bench last week, while Jamie Carragher takes his place in the centre of defence alongside Sebastien Coates.
Liverpool: Jones; Wisdom, Coates, Carragher, Enrique; Henderson, Sahin, Suso; Downing, Assaidi, Pacheco.
Subs: Gulacsi, Sterling, Borini, Shelvey, Yesil, Robinson, Wilson.
