Despite the Schwaben's disappointing performance, head coach Christian Gross was delighted with the final result and the Swiss coach emphasized that Stuttgart deserved to progress.
"I'm really delighted for the club, the players and the fans that we have progressed," said Gross on the club's official website. " It was a very physical game, although we defended poorly from the set-piece which led to the 0-1.
"We then came out after the break determinedly, only to suffer further set-back. The team showed great moral after the 0-2. In the end we deserved to progress."
