Juventus Coach Luigi Del Neri Impressed With Alessandro Del Piero's Sturm Graz Show
Del Neri picks out individuals for praise after Graz win...
By Salvatore Landolina
Juventus coach Luigi Del Neri reserved special praise for Alessandro Del Piero following the 1-0 win over Sturm Graz in the Europa League.
Del Piero struck the only goal of the game eight minutes into the second half to ensure the Bianconeri reached the group stage.
"We were better in the second half even though we were a little tired," Del Neri told the press. "We played faster and created many chances, but also missed plenty.
"Del Piero? Alex is like this, it's not because Diego has left us, it's always important for players to play for the team with great will."
There was also praise for Felipe Melo who was in top form all night, a stark contrast to last year's poor season.
"He is working really hard after a tough year. He has the qualities to hold our midfield and he can be our reference man," he said.
Fabio Quagliarella appears set to join the Old Lady, but Del Neri played down the hype.
"I have not seen [sporting director] Giuseppe Marotta yet. Lets wait and see. We have plenty of players like Jorge Martinez and Vincenzo Iaquinta up front."
