Europa League hopefuls Unirea Urziceni have appointed Israeli coach Ronny Levy as the new man in charge at the Romanian titleholders. Unirea confirmed the news on its official website.
Unirea were in the market for a new manager following the unexpected departure of Dan Petrescu in December 2009. The former Chelsea defender resigned after he had an argument with the club's board.
The 43-year-old Levy is mainly known for his successes at Maccabi Haifa. He won three Israeli league titles at the Haifa side between 2003-2008 before leaving the Maccabi for an adventure at Maccabi Petach Tikva.
Levy resigned at Petacj Tikva in November 2009 and had since been out of work. The highly rated gaffer has signed a 1,5-year deal at his new club.
Levy faces the tough task to guide Unirea past Premier League titans Liverpool in the next round of the Europa League.
