Bulgarian powerhouse CSKA Sofia have refused to accept the resignation of coach Luboslav Penev.
The 43-year-old announced he was quitting on Friday after a disagreement with the club's owners over their decision to reinstate nine players who were suspended because of a late night drinking binge.
However, the club's board has now made it clear that they haven't accepted Penev's decision to terminate his contract.
"The supervisory board had a meeting [on Sunday night] and didn't accept Luboslav Penev's resignation," chairman Dimitar Borisov told reporters after CSKA's 2-0 win over city rivals Slavia Sofia on Sunday.
Reacting, Penev said, "I resigned but that doesn't mean that I shouldn't go to work until there's a decision by the club's supervisory board. I didn't change my mind, but let's wait and see."
CSKA top the league standings with 28 points from 12 matches, ahead of Litex Lovech on goal difference. However, they have been far from impressive in the Europa League, sitting last in their group with no points from four games.
