German outfit Werder Bremen will possibly have to make do without midfielder Tim Borowski when they face Austria Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday.

The former Bayern Munich star picked up a foot injury in his side's 2-2 Bundesliga draw against Nuremberg last Saturday and is doubtful for the fixture.

It would be a huge blow for head coach Thomas Schaaf if Borowski doesn't make it in time for the match against the Austrians.

Werder Bremen will also be without skipper Torsten Frings on Thursday.

Werder currently sit first in Group L, boasting seven points from three games. They drew the away fixture against Vienna 2-2 a fortnight ago.
