Francesco Totti, the Roma ace, salutes the crowd after grabbing a brace against Bologna
Roma captain Francesco Totti is full of optimism ahead of the Europa League play-off clash with Kosice.

The team left for Slovakia from Rome's Fiumicino Airport this morning, and Totti is hoping to help his side bring home a lead from Thursday's first leg match.

"I am very motivated and we always try to do well on the pitch," Totti told the club's official website.

"Above all, we always try to do well for Roma."

Totti, who shrugged off muscular fatigue to make the trip, is already looking ahead to this weekend's Serie A opener with Genoa at the Marassi.

"Can Roma reach the top four? We have to wait because it's always easy to make predictions during the early stages," added the captain.

"We have a year ahead of us, and we will analyse things day by day."

Totti, who is said to have defended national coach Marcello Lippi from the recent spat with Inter boss Jose Mourinho, deflected questions on his possible return to the Italian team.

"Lippi? He was only making a prediction. I am thinking about tomorrow's game, that's all," the playmaker continued.

"I have to be focussed and determined and I will try to help for the second leg.

"We don't know how Kosice will play and we will confront them on the pitch."

The match kicks off at 16:30CET on Thursday.
