Four Polokwane City players killed in road accident
Khomotso Mpakatesane, Moeketsi Nthete, Mojalefa Mphuthi and Koketso Takalo were all travelling on a bus that was hit by an allegedly drunk driver
Four players from South African second-tier side Polokwane City have been killed in a road accident after playing out a 1-1 draw with Atlie FC on Sunday.
Strikers Khomotso Mpakatesane, Moeketsi Nthete and Mojalefa Mphuthi, as well as winger Koketso Takalo all died when the bus they were travelling in was hit by a car, allegedly driven by a drunk driver.
The players were then reportedly travelling to a post-match meeting when a car skipped a red traffic light and smashed into them.
The bus in which they were travelling had 22 passengers, 19 of them players. Another three were taken to hospital, two of whom are in a critical condition.
This comes just a month after national team assistant coach Thomas Madigage was killed while also travelling in the Limpopo province.
