thumbnail Hello,

The Amakhosi defender and striker both had solid performances against rivals Orlando Pirates over the weekend, despite the eventual defeat

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter singled out Abia Nale and Tefu Mashamaite for praise following the Carling Black Label Cup clash against Orlando Pirates over the weekend.

Amakhosi lost the tie 5-4 on penalties after the match finished 1-1 in regulation time – Nale getting the goal for Chiefs – but Baxter was nonetheless satisfied with his players' performance.

"Looking at the starting 11, it gave the players an opportunity to stake a claim in the team. I thought Abia did well … he did very well offensively," Baxter said to reporters.

Nale has been a fringe player at Chiefs since his move from Golden Arrows in 2009, but if Baxter's word is anything to go by then the 'Soul Provider' could finally become a regular.

As for the back line, the Morgan Gould/Mulomowandau Mathoho partnership seems a popular choice, but Baxter says is hugely impressed with former Bidvest Wits captain Mashamaite.

"'Masha' played instead of Mathoho and he did quite well. I wouldn't say they have blown everybody else away, but they have certainly raised their shares if you want to call it that," Baxter added.
