Radebe: Igesund will bring pride back to South Africa

The former Bafana Bafana captain believes that the new national team coach is the right man to put the country's football back on the map
Former South Africa captain Lucas Radebe believes Gordon Igesund is the right man to restore the country's faith in the national team.

'Rhoo' admits that the South African public have lost confidence in the team after a string of poor results and Safa bungling, but is confident things will change for the better now.

"There are a lot of expectations he has to live up to; once things go wrong, the public will be on your back," he says.

"But Igesund has shown with Swallows that he can lead the players and motivate them. We need a leader and we need confidence … I think he's going to bring that back to the team."

He added, "Gordon has a great track record and we all have to support him. What he did with Swallows and the other teams is wonderful, so we'll have to support him all the way."

Reports suggested that Radebe could be part of the Bafana technical team, along with the likes of Doctor Khumalo and Fani Madida.
