South Africa Defender Bongani Khumalo Familiar With Niger Striker Alhassane Dante Issoufou
Bafana Bafana centre back Bongani Khumalo says he has done his homework on the Niger danger man ahead of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Saturday.
South Africa hosts the West Africans at the Mbombela stadium and Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has admitted he is worried about the team he calls a "closed book".
"They have two dangerous strikers, one is from the Moroccan side FUS Rabat that played against SuperSport United in the CAF Champions League and the other is a guy called Moussa Maazou, who I found out, has returned to the French team Monaco after he was on loan at CSKA Moscow," Mosimane said.
Khumalo says he knows Alhassane Dante Issoufou, the 29-year-old striker from FUS Rabat. "I remember him. He is their top man, he is quite quick and he uses his body well. I'm happy that myself and Morgan (Gould) got a chance to come up against him. We know they will be very strong, very powerful and hungry to win the game but I believe we can match that hunger and we should come out on top. Niger is not really a glamorous name like other countries but we can't underestimate them," he said.
Meanwhile, it has since emerged that the 23-year-old could move to Tottenham Hotspur in January after impressing the English Premiership side while on trial at the club recently.
"It was a great opportunity and I was privileged to be surrounded by some of the world's best players. I had a great time there and I learnt a lot and concerning the deal it is still pending. There will be a press release from the club (Tottenham Hotspur) announcing more," Khumalo said.
