South African Premier Soccer League Fixtures Announced
The PSL officially released the fixture list for the 2010/11 PSL season, as well as the various cup dates and FIFA calendar dates.
The season officially kicks off on August 7 with the Telkom Charity Cup, with the League campaign kicking off three weeks later when Ajax Cape Town host Bloemfontein Celtic on August 27 at Cape Town Stadium.
Reigning League champions SuperSport United will get the defence of their title underway the following day away to Bidvest Wits – the same day as Kaizer Chiefs host Golden Arrows at Rand Stadium. The day’s glamour fixture sees Mamelodi Sundowns at home to Moroka Swallows, while Orlando Pirates start their title chase the following day away to newcomers Vasco da Gama.
The season’s first ‘big’ fixture is on September 18 when SuperSport and Sundowns clash in the Tshwane Derby, with the season’s first Soweto Derby on November 13, when Pirates host Chiefs at Orlando Stadium. The return leg is at Rand Stadium on February 26. The MTN8 cup competition kicks off on August 21, with the final on October 2.
The Telkom Knockout Cup kicks off on October 20, with the final on December 4. The season’s final cup competition, the Nedbank Cup, starts on March 9, with the final the last game of the season, on May 28.
