Reneilwe Letsholonyane has his penalty saved as Bafana draw a blank.

Cruzeiro x África do Sul - VIPCOMM
Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ithumeleng Khune earned high praise in Brazil last night with a brilliant display that earned Bafana a goalless draw against Cruzeiro at Mineirao Stadium.

According to Kickoff.com, reports from Belo Horizante indicate that the ball rolled freely in the first half with only three infringements by the hosts and seven by their visitors.

Cruzeiro had nine attempts at goal during this period compared to Bafana's two.

The best of these for the South Africans came in the 15th minute when Siphiwe Tshabalala put in a pin-point cross to Katlego Mphela, who forced the Foxes' keeper Fabio to make a great save.

Cruz began to dominate proceedings and in the 23rd minute Pedro Ken put Khune to the test. Two minutes later Khune had to contend with a rocket from inside the box by Roger.

In the 38th minute a speedy Jonathan fed a menacing Wellington, but once again Khune rose to the occasion.

The Bafana defence tightened up and managed to ease the pressure until the break. The second half began with both teams launching attacks.

Cruz looked to get the upper hand early when they were awarded a free-kick but Bernardine's shot exploded against the crossbar. Kleber and Diego Renan were replaced by Eliandro and Magalhaes and coach Adilson Batista attempted to add more spark to his attack when Marcos came on for Marquinhos Parana.

Bafana made the best opportunities in the second half, but these were reserved for the final minutes when Magalhaes fouled Mphela in the area. Fábio was at full stretch to save Reneilwe Letsholonyane's subsequent spot-kick.

Two minutes later, in stoppage time, Fabio was again fully extended in saving a shot from Franklin Cale just inside the area.
