Bobby Motaung: Kaizer Chiefs Are Ready To Fight For The Title

Siphiwe Tshabalala - Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says Amakhosi are ready to fight for the league championship, starting with their first game of 2010 against Moroka Swallows.

Chiefs went on their festive break after beating AmaZulu 1-0 at Loftus Stadium and will return to training on January 11 with a renewed vigour and a full squad to choose from.

“We have all the players ready for the next round of games. We want to fight as hard as we can - until the last whistle - because the league is still wide open,” Motaung told KickOff.com.

Amakhosi are in third position with 41 points, two ahead of fourth-placed Santos and three behind Mamelodi, both of whom have a game in hand. SuperSport United lead the pack on 47 points.

“The players know what lies ahead of them, and having a full squad in the first game after the festive season is a bonus for us. We will go all out to do well in all of the games remaining,” added Motaung.

Chiefs have not won the League since former coach Ted Dumitru left them. Dumitru led the team to two consecutive League titles, in the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons.

Since then SuperSport have taken over, winning the championship twice as well.
