Still No Carlos Alberto Parreira In South Africa

Ten days after the SAFA (South African FA) confirmed Carlos Alberto Parreira’s re-appointment as Bafana Bafana coach, the Brazilian has still not arrived to start his job.

Carlos Alberto Parreira- South Africa Coach
Parreira was expected to name the squad that will face Japan and Jamaica in friendlies this month on Thursday in Sandton, but it has since emerged that could be left to Pitso Mosimane and Jairo Leal to handle in their capacity as caretaker coaches because Parreira is still in Brazil.

SAFA CEO Raymond Hack told KickOff.com that Parreira will definitely arrive this week. “He will be here this week,” Hack said.

Asked if Parreira will be at the announcement of the squad, Hack couldn’t commit. “I won’t say he will be at the announcement of the squad or not, but he will be in the country this week,” he said.

According to some reports, Parreira is expected to arrive on Friday, but Hack couldn’t confirm this.

SAFA bosses have apparently discussed the matter urgently and the reasons for Parreira’s delay in starting his job are being kept hush-hush.

It has been reported that Mosimane and Leal have both been keeping Parreira in the loop as far as the issue of player selection is concerned.
