No Permission From South African FA For Cape Town Peace Cup
The controversy regarding the Cape Town Peace Cup rages on.
Oct 31, 2009 8:22:46 AM
As it stands now the international Under-19 tournament remains a non-starter as the South African FA (SAFA) has still not yet granted permission to the organisers
of the event, which is set to be staged in Cape Town during December.
The local football association had earlier warned the Premier Soccer League to make proper application for permission to host the tournament. However, to this date the organisers of the tournament have not applied for the license to go on with preparations for the event.
SAFA vice-president Mwelo Nonkonyane confirmed to KickOff.com that his office has still not received an application from the organisers of the Cape Town Peace tournament.
“We have received nothing regarding the tournament," he said. "The rules remain the same; no tournament can be staged in the country without permission from SAFA.
“As it stand now, the tournament will not go on without the permission from SAFA.”
