The venue for this season’s first official Soweto Derby, scheduled for October 31, has been shifted from Orlando Stadium to Loftus Stadium...The kick-off for the game between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs has also been brought forward to 15:15.
“I can confirm that the venue for Pirates-Chiefs game has been changed and now the game will take place at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria, instead of Orlando Stadium in Soweto,” PSL media manager Altaaf Kazi said in a press release.
“The date has not changed, but the game will now kick off at 15h15 instead of 15h30," he added.
“There were a lot of factors considered to change the venue and obviously looking at the number of fans expected to attend the game, we had to look at a bigger venue and Loftus Stadium has emerged as the most suitable.”
The Soweto derby between the two great rivals always attracts the crowds, with the game often a sell-out on match day.
