Answering a question from the media during the announcement of the national squad to play international friendlies against Norway and Iceland next week, the Brazilian coach says that his team always try hard to win, but they have been playing against top-ranked teams.
“It’s has been hard for us since the Confederation Cup. We have played
the FIFA number one team, the FIFA number four team and other teams
above us. I also want to win, and it is hard for me when I lose,” he commented.
Santana believes the team he is assembling now will do the job for him as the players are beginning to gel together.
“We have been trying to bring players into the team so that we can come
up with a good combination and I hope that now this is the squad we
have been looking for. I know it is tough, but we need to win and I am
here to stay and help the team.”
The team leaves for Norway on Tuesday, October 6. They will fly to
Germany before connecting to Oslo in Norway for the first game on
October 10, then against Iceland on October 13.
