Orlando Pirates Coach Ruud Krol Explains Josephy Kamwendo Situation
Krol has explained the continual exclusion of Malawian midfielder Josephy Kamwendo from the Bucs’ starting line-up...
Despite his enormous talent and superb performances whenever on the field, Josephy Kamwendo has only been used as a late substitute for the greater part of this season.“I always look at the opponent and then go for a certain kind of balance in the team,” explained the Dutch tactician to Kickoff.com.
“Just like on Wednesday, I knew that Aces are strong on the counter and so I needed to have a certain quality that is there in the players that started the match. I always select the starting team based on a plan that I have about how we should play.
“If I have to keep on talking about why a player is on the substitutes' bench then, maybe I will end up having to talk about the whole squad. Only 11 players can start a match but we value all the players that we have at Pirates,” said Krol.
Kamwendo has become the darling of the 'Ghost' and they are always excited when he comes on, even when brought in for a few minutes.
Kamwendo always displays flashes of spark in his play just like he did last night when brought on in the 85th minute.
The 23-year-old previously told KickOff.com that he was surprised that he was still not playing regularly, even though he is in third season, the last of his contract, with the club.
