Orlando Pirates Deny AWOL Player Claims
Orlando Pirates' administrative manager, Floyd Mbele, has dismissed speculation that Congolese defender Blaise Kiaku has gone AWOL after missing training over the past few days.
Kiaku was earlier reported in the media to have gone back home in Congo to rejoin his former club, AS Vita.
Mbele has since confirmed to KickOff.com that the Congolese international, famous for breaking Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane’s leg during the Vodacom Challenge, has returned home to Kinshasa, but assured that the player will be back in South Africa soon.
“His visa expired and he had to go back home. He should be back once his work-permit papers have been sorted out,” Mbele said.
Meanwhile, Teko Modise remains doubtful for the Premier Soccer League game against Golden Arrows in Durban this weekend. Modise suffered a toe injury against Jomo Cosmos at Orlando Stadium in Soweto recently.
“I am not in position to say whether he will be available or not for the game on Saturday. We still have few days before the game and the medical team will decide,” Mbele added.
