Rosslee has been without a job since leaving Ajax Cape Town at the end of last season and joins Orlando Pirates on a two-year contract.
Bucs chairman Irvin Khoza said he was delighted with the appointment, which will take some pressure off head coach Ruud Krol’s shoulders.
“The head coach has been requesting us to get an assistant for him and he was specific with the kind of person he wanted to work with,” Khoza told his club’s official website.
“We were looking for compatibility and I think we succeeded in doing that by appointing Craig," he added.
“Having spent time at Ajax Cape Town, Craig has been exposed to the ‘Dutch-way’ of coaching," Khoza added.
"He fits the Dutch philosophy very well and also has expertise at youth level, having spent most of his initial years of coaching at the Ajax Cape Town youth academy.”
