Twente Closing In On Bernard Parker’s Signature – Reports
The South African striker is definitely on the move this summer, and it seems like Dutch side Twente could be his destination…
Bernard Parker is on the verge of a move to Dutch outfit Twente, according to a report in SportWeek.
Parker impressed at the recently ended FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, proving to be one of Bafana Bafana’s best players and scoring two vital goals against New Zealand in the group stages of the competition.
The 23-year-old currently has a contract with South African Premier Soccer League side Thanda Royal Zulu, but the club have been looking for a buyer in Europe for their star man.
Parker spent a half season spell Serbia’s Red Star Belgrade, but had that loan deal ended abruptly by Thanda due to the financial difficulties at Red Star.
His second adventure in Europe is likely to be a great deal more pleasant for his agent and the clubs involved, as Twente are keen to take him on in a four-year deal. They have placed an offer of €1 million on the table.
It is key for Bafana Bafana to have one of their most important attacking players plying his trade in Europe in order to gain more experience and improve, especially as the World Cup is only 11 months away. A great deal of pressure falling on the shoulders of the young striker as South Africa aim to advance to the second round of their home World Cup event next year.
