AmaZulu-bound defender Warren Bishop appeared to be the most dejected player on the field on Saturday after Amatuks failed to overcome Moroka Swallows in the Nedbank Cup Final.
“It’s was devastating,” he said with tears streaming from his eyes. “It has been five years good years of my life,” he added before departing. Tuks’ coach Steve Barker took over when their 26-year-old stand-in skipper left the gathering.
Barker hailed his young squad saying they gave it their best in the tournament before going down by a solitary goal against the Dube Birds.
“I am proud of my players. I was impressed with the way they performed throughout the tournament. They gave it their all until they lost to a better team in the Final.”
Barker also hailed Warren’s contribution to the team. “Warren has been a great servant of this club. In all the matches that he played in and practice sessions, he always played his heart out. We can only him the best of luck in his stint at his new club.”
