The Standard Liege defender stated that he has been learning a great deal from the Barcelona dribbling machine and meeting him on the opposite side in any tournament would be a dream come true.
“Messi is a great player,” the 21-year-old told Accra-based Metro TV. “He’s very good and I really want to play with him. That will be great and I’m looking forward to that one day.”
The 2009 Fifa Under-20 World Cup winner stated his hopes of landing a deal with English Premier League giants Manchester United in the years to come, but he quickly admitted it will take a great deal of hard work to realise such ambition.
Opare, who helped The Reds to win the Belgian Cup in 2011, stated that the Red Devils have been his dream team since childhood and he would love to be at Old Trafford before he retires from football.
“Manchester United are a great team. It’s a team I would want to play for one day, and I have been hoping for that dream to come true. I love Manchester United,” the former Real Madrid youth side player reiterated.
Opare noted that he is focusing on building his career at club level since that will be the surest bet to move forward in his career.
