The ‘Tornado’ is gearing up for a new career on the touchline after hanging up his boots, meaning that becoming the Black Stars coach in future is a possibility

Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has begun work on earning his coaching badges in England.

The former Black Stars midfielder said his latest move is in line with his quest to become a coach immediately after he retires from active football.

“Yes, I have started [taking up my coaching badges]," the Vojvodina player confirmed on the Ghana FA website. “I am doing my training in England.”

The former Juventus player retired from national duties as captain after leading the Black Stars to a quarter-final finish at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The 31-year-old was Ghana footballer of the year in 2005 and 2007 – the same year in which he won the Footballer of the Year prize in Turkey.
