Ghana FA denies publishing squad list for Lesotho & Zambia matches
The west African country's FA has denied reports making the rounds that some old guards have been axed from the Black Stars for upcoming matches against Lesotho and Zambia
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has rubbished a new Black Stars list making rounds in the local media believed to be the squad that will play in next month’s World Cup qualifiers.According to the list, big names such as captain John Mensah and his deputy John Paintsil have been dropped.
However, in an official statement on its website, the GFA denied such reports, adding that new coach Kwesi Appiah will make his squad public in due course.
The west Africans will be playing Lesotho and Zambia in June and new names are already being suggested in the media as potential replacements for some of the old guard.
“The Ghana Football Association wishes to assure the media and the public that the squad has not been released. Announcements for call-ups to the national teams will be released via the official media channels of the Ghana Football Association,” the statement said.
