Ghana league giants Asante Kotoko have opened a 12-point lead in the Ghanaian Premier League after beating arch-rivals Hearts of Oak on Sunday. The game dubbed the Super Clash did not end without the shocks and drama that usually characterise games between the two teams.

Inactive Ghana international Laryea Kingston took an early shower and a last minute goal saw the Phobians returning to Accra in disappointment.

Dwarfs 1 - 0 Wassaman United

Sunday, April 15

Kotoko 2 - 1 Hearts of Oak

Asante Kotoko have opened a 12-point lead at the summit of the Ghana Premier League standings after having beaten perennial rivals Hearts of Oak 2-1. Kofi Nti Boakye opened the scoring for the Porcupine Warriors before Mahatma Otoo equalised. The climax of the game came when Kotoko’s Michael Akuffu scored the match winner in the dying minutes. The Phobians finished the game with 10 men when veteran Laryea Kingston saw red in the second half.

Aduana Stars 1 - 2 Arsenals

Champions Aduana were defeated by Berekum Arsenal at the Agyemang Badu Park. Razak Egyry and Kwasi Acheampong scored for the Gunners while Francis Larbi found the consolation. The victory was badly needed to move Arsenal from the relegation zone.

Berekum Chelsea 2 - 1 Edubiase FC

Three goals were recorded at the Golden City Park with the majority going the way of Berekum Chelsea. Although the leading goal scorer in the league scored, Emmanuel Baffour's strike was not enough to give his side the win. He now has 19 goals from 24 games.

Wa All Stars 0 - 0 Mighty Jets

The game between Wa All Stars and Mighty Jets ended in a goalless draw.

Tema Youth 1 - 1 AshGold

AshantiGold managed to share the spoils with Tema Youth despite ending the game in 10 men. Isaac Amoah put the hosts in the lead during the first half, but Yakubu Mohammed got his side's equaliser with a second half strike before being sent off.

Medeama SC 3 - 1 Bechem United

Medeama continued their push up the standings in the Premier League following a 3-1 home win against relegation-threatened Bechem United. Hans Kwoffie bagged a brace after Larbi Koomson had opened the floodgates for Medeama. Issah Adamu scored a consolation for Bechem.

Dwarfs 1 - 0 Wassaman United

At the Len Clay Stadium, Wassaman were dealt a big blow after losing 1-0 to Ebusua Dwarfs. The hero of the day was Bismark Asiedu with his 65th minute goal.

Liberty 5 - 1 Heart of Lions

Liberty Professionals mauled Heart of Lions 5-1 at the Carl Reindorf Park on Saturday to push up the standings in the domestic top flight. Latif Salifu bagged a brace and Francis Morton, Ebirama Kamara and Issah Yakubu also scored to give their side a commanding lead, but the Lions could not return without getting a consolation through Daniel Bonsu.
