The former Egypt national team coach who is considered amongst the best of his peers has been hospitalised in Jordan
Legendary Egyptian coach Mahmoud El-Gohary is currently in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a hospital in Amman, Jordan after the 74-year-old suffered a stroke.El-Gohary has been consulting with Jordanian FA president, and Fifa vice-president, Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein.
A source at the JFA told Goal.com that El-Gohary is currently in a very bad condition and Prince Ali is at his side in hospital, closely monitoring his condition alongside the doctors.
El-Gohary has earned legendary status in Egypt due to his four terms spent coaching the Pharaohs, leading them to the 1990 World Cup and winning the 1998 Africa Cup of Nations.
He has also been in charge of the Jordan national team, where he lead them to the Asian Cup for the first time in their history, progressing to the quarter-finals with his leadership.
His resume is complete by his time spent coaching the two Cairo giants, Al Ahly and Al Zamalek, winning the Caf Champions League with both clubs in 1982 and 1993 respectively.
