African champions the Pharaohs of Egypt will continue to wear Puma kits till 2014 after the country’s football association extended its shirt sponsorship deal with the German sports equipment manufacturers.
“The new sponsorship deal will see Puma paying us 800,000 Euros every year. We will also receive 200,000 Euros in case we win any title,” said Egypt Football Association (EFA) President, Samir Zaher.
Zaher is credited with an aggressive marketing drive on behalf of Egyptian football since he was elected three years ago.
He has already earned the country’s domestic league money from the sale of television rights.
Egypt have been drawn with Rwanda, Algeria and Zambia in the final round of African qualification for the 2010 World Cup. The first placed team will go to South Africa.
