Keshi: I want dedicated players for Nigeria

The trainer says that his team is a work in progress and he hopes to invite new players for future matches

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has said that he will only be interested in working with players that are ready to give their all to defend the colours of the nation.

Keshi stated that he does not yet have a team and that he is still experimenting with ideas in the squad.

“We have players but we don’t have a team yet. I am still picking and testing the players. If you are good, you stay, but if you are not good, sorry, we have a handshake and the system continues,” said Keshi according to The Guardian.

“For some period, I am still working on the chemistry of the players, and so far it is okay. I want those players that can give Nigeria more than 100 per cent; big names will not give me what I want.

“I want those that will see Nigeria as their country and be ready to defend its colours. I intend to extend invitation to some other players who did not feature in the last match.”

The coach has already spoken about inviting Sidney Sam of German club Leverkusen to the Super Eagles.
