The Super Eagles strikers grabbed braces for their sides in international club friendlies in preparation for the resumption of the Russian and Ukrainian leagues
The Nigerian duo of Obafemi Martins and Brown Ideye impressed in front of goal by scoring two goals each on Monday in friendly matches for their clubs in preparation for the resumption of the Russian and Ukrainian leagues.
Martins, hoping to get a recall to the the Super Eagles, scored his first on the 12 minutes and the second 17 minutes later to help Rubin Kazan to a 3-1 win over Lech Poznan.
Ideye, who has been in a rich vein of form since joining Dynamo Kiev from French side Sochaux last year, scored his two goals against Guangzhou Evergrande on 28 minutes. His second came on 55 minutes as Kiev won 4-0.
Ideye was part of the national side that failed to qualify for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations but has been given another chance in the new national team set-up under coach Stephen Keshi.
The young striker has made great scoring strides in Russia and is prominently featured on the cover of the club’s monthly magazine for February.
Both strikers will hope to make the national team for the 2013 Afcon qualifier that is to be played against Rwanda on February 29 in Kigali.
