Exclusive: Javad Nekounam - Iran Are Better And Will Beat Saudi Arabia

The Iran captain has a warning for Saturday's visitors...

Javad Nekounam - Iran
Javad Nekounam is feeling confident ahead of Iran's crucial 2010 World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia in Tehran on Saturday.

The two meet at the Azadi Stadium with both teams needing the points.

After four games in Group Two, Iran are third with six points while Saudi Arabia are in fourth with two points less.

Nekounam, who has been in fine form of late for Spanish club Osasuna, told Goal.com that Iran will win.

“Saudi Arabia has a good team yet they have never been successful in Iran. They will not be successful this time either,” predicted the midfielder.

Team Melli’s talisman thinks that better players as well as home support will see Iran through.

“I expect Azadi stadium to be filled with 100,000 fans behind us. We are better than Saudis in all aspects of the game. This match will have one victor and that would be Iran.“

The top two from each group automatically qualify for the 2010 World Cup.
