Humberto Suazo, the coach of Chile, declared to the press that his national team have what it takes to defeat Argentina in a crucial World Cup qualifier on Wednesday...
Humberto Suazo affirmed that Marcelo Bielsa's side are "mentally prepared" to defeat Argentina on Wednesday, as they strive to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1998.
"Argentina are complicated rivals, but we have to pick up the points at home, so that things don't get more complicated further down the track. We can't let this happen," stated the Monterrey striker, at the conclusion of Tuesday's training session.
"Many think we have already lost the match, but we believe we can win, and there is lots of confidence within the group, because we know we can reach our objective," affirmed 'Chupete' Suazo, in reference to the negative attitude of the local press.
"We are only thinking about winning and not in a draw, so that our possibilities of qualifying for the World Cup remain intact. We want to win because lots of people think we will lose, but this team have the right players to claim a victory," he added.
Meanwhile, his teammate, goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, understands that history backs Argentina's chances of winning the match, but he doesn't believe it "will matter" come match day.
"I don't think the statistics will matter in this situation, but we want to change them, and leave the three points at home," he said.
